Hoy en SpainEurovisionInfo tenemos el honor de entrevistar a Anton Hagman, uno de los concursantes de esta edición del Melodifestivalen. Este artista sueco de 18 años, conocido por sus covers en Youtube ha decidido dar el salto a un gran escenario y le veremos actuar el próximo sábado 18 de febrero.
Anton cuenta con casi 31.000 suscriptores en su canal de youtube y un total de 1.147.135 visualizaciones en todos sus vídeos. En sus inicios como artista, sus ídolos fueron los Jonas Brothers o Justin Bieber entre otros y con tan sólo 15 años empezó su carrera musical, pisando estudios de grabación en Estocolmo. Actualmente trabaja con la discográfica Universal Music.
Además, el sábado no será su primera vez pisando un escenario, ya que ha actuado en varias ocasiones en Suecia y una vez en Singapur.
Se medirá junto con Robin Bengtsson, Jamine Kara, Krista Siegfrids o el grupo FO&O en la 3ª Semifinal de la preselección sueca.
SpainEurovisionInfo: Hey Anton! First of all, thank you so much for the interview. So, why did you decide to participate in Melodifestivalen 2017? Why in this year and not in previous years? [¿Por qué decidiste participar en el Melodifestivalen 2017 este año y no en anteriores ediciones?]
Anton Hagman: I was writing material for my debut EP and I wasn’t planning to participate in Melodifestivalen this year but when I heard the song and when my record label Universal gave me their full support, I decided to do it. “Kiss you Goodbye” is a song I really like and I can relate to. I also really like the new version of the contest with a broad range of artists in different ages and genres. [Estaba escribiendo para mi album debut y no estaba planeado participar en el Melodifestivalen este año pero cuando escuché la canción y cuando mi discográfica me dió su apoyo, decidí hacerlo.”Kiss you Goodbye” es una canción que realmente me gusta y con la que puedo identificarme. También me gusta que en el Melodifestivalen ahora entren tantos artistas y géneros diferentes]
SEI: What could you tell us about your song? Is it a pop ballad? [¿Qué nos podrías decir sobre tu canción? ¿Es una balada pop?]
A.H: It is an up-tempo pop song with organic instruments like guitar and base. It’s an encouraging song that with the message that you need to lose your fears before you can move on and find love again. [Es un tema pop up-tempo con instrumentos como base o guitarra. Es una canción alentadora con un claro mensaje: para seguir adelante y encontrar el amor otra vez necesitas dejar atrás tus miedos]
SEI: There’re really great artists in your semifinal, are you specially worried about one of them? [Hay grandes artistas en tu semifinal, ¿estás preocupado especialmente por alguno de ellos?]
I have huge respect for all of them but I am not so worried right now. I am just happy to be a part of it. It is going to be a lot of fun and I will gain a lot of experience so I’m really looking forward to it. [Tengo un gran respeto por todos pero no estoy muy preocupado por ahora. Sólo estoy feliz por ser parte del programa. Va ser muy divertido y ganaré mucha experiencia, estoy deseando que llegue]
SEI: What do you think about Loreen’s participation? [¿Qué piensas sobre la participación de Loreen en el Melodifestivalen 2017?]
A. H: I think she is a great artist with a wonderful voice and I am honored to be in the same contest as her. [Pienso que es una gran artista con una maravillosa voz y es un honor estar en el mismo concurso que ella]
SEI: Do you like Eurovision? What’s your favorite entry ever? And your favourite entry of Melfest? [¿Te gusta Eurovisión? ¿Cuál es tu canción favorita en la historia del Melodifestivalen?]
A. H: I love Eurovision! For me it has always been one of the highlights of the year when the whole family is sitting and watching it. I remember being at one of the shows live and I told my dad that “one day, I will perform on this stage”. My favourite entry in Melodifestivalen is “The Worrying Kind” with The Ark. [Me encanta Eurovisión! Para mí siempre ha sido uno de los acontecimientos más grandes del año cuando las familias se reunen y lo ven juntos. Recuerdo estar en uno de los shows en directo y decirle a mi padre: “Algún día, yo actuaré en ese escenario”. Mi canción favorita del Melodifestivalen es “The Worrying Kind” de The Ark]
SEI: If you had only three words to definite you as an artist, what would they be? [Si pudieses definirte como artista en sólo 3 palabras, ¿cuáles serían?]
A. H: pop – passion – rock // [pop, pasión y rock]
SEI: Since when do you love singing? Why did you decide to upload covers on Youtube? [¿Desde cuándo cantas? ¿Por qué decidiste un día empezar a subir covers a Youtube?]
A. H: I have been singing since I got my first toy guitar when I was 10 years old and I was influenced by musicals and rock bands my dad played in the stereo when I was a kid. I uploaded my first video just for fun and I got a lot of positive response so I just continued. [Empecé a cantar desde que tenía mi primera guitarra, con 10 años. También, me empezaron a interesar los musicales y las bandas de rock que mi padre me ponía cuando era niño. Subí mi primer vídeo sólo por diversión y obtuve comentarios muy positivos así que continué con ello]
SEI: We’ve seen you have covers of Justin Bieber or Ellie Goulding songs so… what are the artists who have inspired you as a singer? [¿Cuáles son los artistas que te han inspirado más en tu formación como cantante?]
A. H: It started with rock music and a lot of different bands, but then came Justin Bieber and I really started to like his style and pop. But my greatest idol is Freddy Mercury, his voice is one of a kind. [Empecé con música rock y con muchas bandas, pero con Justin Bieber fue cuando me empezó a gustar el pop y ese estilo. Mi gran ídolo ahora es Freddy Mercuty, su voz es única]
SEI: How do you combine your studies with your musical projects? [Cómo consigues combinar tus estudios con los proyectos musicales?]
A. H: Actually I had to take a break in my studies when I signed my first record deal, we will see what happens with that! I might study long distance. [Realmente tuve que dejar los estudios cuando empecé a trabajar con mi discográfica, así que veremos qué pasa con ello. Puede que estudie a larga distancia]
SEI: What madness would you do if you win Melodifestivalen? [Qué locura harías si ganases el melodifestivalen?]
A. H: Wow, I have not really thought that far. I am just overwhelmed with the fact that I got this opportunity. But I would probably freak out and hug as many of my fans as I can. [Wow! Realmente no he pensado en eso todavía. Simplemente estoy abrumado por haber conseguido esta oportunidad. Pero probablemente fliparía y abrazaría a tantos fans como pudiese]
SEI: When will you release a single or an album? [¿Cuándo sacarás un single o un album?]
A. H: I’m working on my EP at the moment and I am planning to release it sometime during 2017, when exactly I keep as a secret for now. [Estoy trabajando en mi EP ahora mismo y espero lanzarlo en algún momento de este año, la fecha exacta es un secreto]
SEI: Is there something you want to say to all the Melodifestivalen fans from Spain? [¿Querrías decir algunas palabras a los fans españoles del Melodifestivalen?]
A. H: I’m so glad that you are interested to hear about me and I hope to be able to go to Spain and perform live for you as soon as I can. I love the Spanish people, they’re beautiful and hospitality, and the food of course. [Estoy encantado de que mostréis interés en mi y espero ir a España y actuar en vivo allí muy pronto. Me encanta la gente de españa, son muy hospitalarios y la comida, por supuesto]
