In the 2000’s, a talent show became one of the most popular shows in Spanish TV. Operación Triunfo, similar to X-Factor and The Voice, was one of the most followed programmes for many years. Iconic Eurovision contestants, such as Rosa López (2002) came out of it. After a long break, Spanish broadcaster RTVE has decided to revive this fan-favourite programme hoping for a great audience, and it is rumoured to be the new selection method for ESC

According to those rumours, the winner of the contest would represent Spain at Eurovision 2018. RTVE hasn’t denied any claims yet, and it makes it more suspicious for eurofans. However, the broadcaster hasn’t confirmed it either, so anything can happen. Other voices say that it may be the national final depending on how well it does at the ratings, with a low audience meaning that the winner would be chosen differently.
