Many people thought San Marino’s innovative candidate selection could be interesting and determine the future of many national finals. However, a new challenge for the broadcaster has arisen: several entries in the 1in360 contest happen to be fake.

It is the case for familiar faces such as María Ólafs, who represented Iceland in 2015. A song of hers was featured in the webpage, and later she denied participating in the contest. There are other cases, many of them likely to be jokes from eurofans profitting from the loose rules to participate in the contest. SMRTV is now working on verifying each candidate and deleting fake ones.
